The very first night, originally called Absolute Havok, featured a debut live set from Particle Accelerator, a DJ set from Empirion's Jamie Smart and a very ropey, 2 and half hour debut residency from Jym and Damiens mate, fellow clubber and free-party DJ, Mick Beatle (so called due to his habit of tying his dreadlocks up prior to mixing, giving the impression of two insectoid antennaes)

The night was a huge success pulling in over 250 people - a very respectable figure for a debut night, even in a techno-hungry, post acid house dance boom, Manchester was catalysing. Feeling the need for a chill out area the club moved to it's long term home of The Phoenix on Oxford Road, where it's two floors offered the opportunity for 'Hell' downstairs and a 'Space Aquarium' ambient room the early days we even had access to our own shopping precinct to kick back and relax in....
